Dr Halyna Hrynyshyn attended the Ukraine Policy Network Reception at the UK
Parliament, Westminster Hall. The Ukraine Policy Network, led by Sara Jones at the
University of Birmingham, brings together researchers, charities and community
organisations working to shape evidence-based policy for displaced Ukrainians in the
UK.
The focus of the reception was bringing evidence directly to policymakers. Initial
findings from a nationwide survey of 5,454 displaced Ukrainians were presented to
Members of Parliament, Members of the House of Lords, and government
representatives. The research highlights the strong contributions Ukrainians are
making to British society, while identifying key challenges requiring urgent policy
attention, among them a clear pathway to permanent residence, recognition of
professional qualifications, access to education, and culturally informed mental health
support.
These findings reflect structural conditions that will shape whether Ukrainian
communities in the UK become economically integrated contributors or remain in
prolonged uncertainty.

the heart of British policymaking. The reception also offered an opportunity to
reconnect with SWRRC adviser Andriy Marchenko and discuss the Centre’s
forthcoming research agenda.
The full report will be published in autumn 2026, with findings expected to directly
inform SWRRC’s ongoing work.
